Hintlesham Golf Club proudly welcomes all male, female and junior golfers to share the beauty and challenge of our eighteen hole golf course and for all members and visitors to enjoy our friendly service and hospitality.
We have a Mission Statement at the Golf Club that is key to our commitment to our members and visitors;
Hintlesham Golf Club aim is to continuously provide its members, guests and visitors, a quality experience, within a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, in order to be the best multi -functional business in the area.
Whether it be planning and creating a dream wedding, hosting a corporate event any business would be proud of, providing a traditional family Sunday lunch, or to simply offer a fantastic course and social hub for both the regular and casual golfers.’
The idea of building a golf course originated from former Hintlesham Hall owners David and Ruth Watson. They instructed top architects, Martin Hawtree and Sons, to design 18 holes in 1989 when the fairways were seeded. The course was officially opened in September 1991 David Allan.
David Allan had taken over ownership of the hotel but he went on to sell the hotel in 2003, retaining the golf club with former hotel director, Tim Sunderland, as his partner who was also club director and secretary. The club changed its name at that point from Hintlesham Hall Golf Club to Hintlesham Golf Club.
In the months before the opening, former Walker Cup captain Peter McEvoy rearranged various holes, moved fairways and altered areas of the rough. He also introduced new bunkers and planned the location of the practice areas and the putting green.
The clubhouse, reminiscent of an Edwardian sports pavilion, was designed by Mark Wincer of Hadleigh based architects Wincer Kievenaar partnership and it deservedly won numerous awards.
In late 2006 Henry and Deborah Roblin acquired the club and set about with their ambitious plans to continue the development of the club, with ongoing improvements to the course and clubhouse. They have added a fantastic decked area to the clubhouse as well an extension to the original clubhouse that is licensed for civil ceremonies.
Now the Golf Club is a thriving wedding and party venue with excellent corporate meeting facilities as well as an excellent golf course in Suffolk. The clubhouse offers superb space and comfort for almost all occasions including those for corporate guests requiring a suitable venue for business events or more informal engagements. The extended function room can be sectioned off with a folding wall providing a private room for business meetings and events for up to 80 people as well as wedding ceremonies.
Throughout 2017 the course will benefit from more bunker renovation work as well as pathway maintenance work. This is part of our mission statement to continually improve our service and facilities to our members and guests.
